115 people stranded in Mangla Dam due to storm rescued

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): At least 115 tourists were rescued after their boat got stuck in the Mangla Dam due to severe wind and stormy weather, the rescue authorities said on Thursday.

According to the Rescue 1122 Mirpur, a boat containing State Life employees got stuck in Mangla Dam while returning from a visit to Ramkot Fort.

The number of people on board was about 115, including nine women, men, and children.

The control room of Rescue 1122 Mirpur received an emergency call at 15, to which rescue teams immediately responded with life care ambulances and disaster response vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Powindah Water Rescue team also reached the spot to help with the operation.

Conducting a joint operation, Rescue 1122 Mirpur and Powindah Water Rescue rescued all the stranded people safely through boats and shifted them to a safe place.

The operation was supervised by SSP Mirpur Khurram Iqbal and District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Sardar Najam Saduzai, the rescue 1122 said.
