Weather: New rain spell to enter Pakistan, rain & thunderstorms expected

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): There is a possibility of heavy rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in different parts of the country from April 17 to April 19, according to the weather department.

A new western system is entering the country and will remain effective for several days. During this time, there is a risk of landslides in the hilly areas and flooding in the plains.

Weather Forecast Across Pakistan

Thunderstorms will occur in the Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, and Poonch areas of Azad Kashmir from April 17 to 19. Clouds will also fall in Hattian, Bagh, and Haveli.

Hail is likely in Sudhanuti, Kotli, and Bhimber. Rain has also been predicted in Mirpur during the same period. The intensity of rain may increase in Azad Kashmir on April 18 and 19.

Rain will start in the districts of Chitral, Dir, and Swat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the evening of April 16. Clouds will also fall in Kalam, Shangla, and Buner. Winds will prevail in Kohistan, Malakand, and Battagram.

Intermittent rain will occur in Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Balakot. Haripur, Mardan, and Nowshera will also be cloudy. Rain is also likely in Peshawar, Bajaur, and Mohmand. There may be hail in Swabi, Charsadda, and Kohat.

Snowfall is expected in the mountains in Kurram, Khyber, and Hangu. Light rain will occur in Orakzai, Karak, and Bannu on April 17 and 18. The weather will also change in Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan. Light rain has also been forecast in Waziristan.

Mid to heavy rain will occur in the districts of Diamer, Astore, and Ghizer of Gilgit-Baltistan. Clouds will also fall in Skardu, Hunza, and Gilgit. Snowfall is expected in the mountains in Ganchhe and Shigar.

Rain in Quetta, Ziarat, and Chaman on April 17 and 18. Thunderstorms are also expected in Pishin, Qila Abdullah, and Qila Saifullah. The weather will remain bad in Noshki, Sherani, and Musakhel. Rain is also predicted in Loralai, Harnai, Zhob, and Barkhan.

It will rain in Murree, Galiat, and Islamabad from April 16 to 18. There will be wind in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal. There is a possibility of hail in Jhelum, Khushab, and Sargodha. Clouds will also fall in Mianwali, Faisalabad, and Jhang.

Rain is also expected in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Narowal. There will be wind in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Layyah. Thunderstorms are predicted in Bhakkar, Multan, and Khanewal. Dusty winds will prevail in the upper areas of Sindh from April 16 to 18.

The Meteorological Department has warned that there is a risk of landslides in sensitive areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

Flash Flood Warning

Flash flooding is possible in Dir, Swat, and Kohistan due to heavy rains. Flooding is also possible in Shangla, Battagram, and Chitral. Hail and strong winds can damage electricity poles and billboards. Solar panels can also be affected.

There is a risk of damage to standing crops. Farmers have been instructed to take care of their crops. Tourists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
