ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has given an important press briefing regarding the historic US-Iran talks in Islamabad.
He said that several rounds of comprehensive and constructive talks have been completed between the delegations of the two countries.
Ishaq Dar expressed satisfaction that the US and Iran have responded positively to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s request. Both countries have recognized Pakistan as a facilitator.
The US delegation was led by Vice President JD Vance, while the Iranian delegation was led by Speaker of Parliament Baqir Qalibaf.
The Foreign Minister clarified that he himself, as Deputy Prime Minister, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir directly assisted in these talks. The aim was to make the negotiation process fruitful at the strategic and diplomatic level. Ishaq Dar said that he was grateful for the recognition of Pakistan’s positive and impartial role by the parties.
He stressed that it is extremely important that both countries remain committed to maintaining the ceasefire. Ishaq Dar reiterated that Pakistan will continue its role for lasting peace in the region and the world in the future as well. He expressed the hope that the journey started with these talks will lead to stability in the region.
It should be remembered that this phase of the Islamabad talks is historic because in it, Pakistan’s military and political leadership have worked together for global peace.
The assistance of Field Marshal Asim Munir provided a solid foundation for these talks in terms of security, while Ishaq Dar took over the diplomatic front.
The fact that rival countries like the US and Iran sit together in Islamabad has increased Pakistan’s global prestige, which aims to permanently end the ongoing tension in the Middle East.
