RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): A renowned Kashmiri journalist and columnist Athar Masood Win passed away in Rawalpindi on Sunday after a prolonged illness.
Editor-in-chief of Kashmir Express, Zahid Tabassum, confirmed the demise of Athar Masood, who remained affiliated with several newspapers and remained chief editor of the news outlet, Kasheer.
Athar Masood Wani was a strong supporter of the Kashmiri’s freedom struggle and has written several articles on the Kashmir dispute.
Wani originally hailed from the Ganderbal city of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and his parents migrated and settled in Rawalpindi in 1947.
He was the son of the late Khawaja Abdul Samad Wani, who was also a well-known and respected journalist of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The details regarding his funeral prayer will be announced later.
