MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Muzaffarabad has seen a sharp increase in the prices of food items, including fruits and vegetables, after the recent hike in the prices of petroleum products.

The common citizen, especially the daily wage earners and laborers, has been facing severe difficulties due to the rise in inflation.

Talking to the Kashmir Digital, citizens have said that the increase in the cost of petrol and diesel has increased the cost of transport, directly impacting the prices of vegetables, fruits, flour, pulses, and other essential items.

The prices of tomatoes, onions, potatoes, and other vegetables have recorded a significant increase in the market, while the prices of flour and pulses are also becoming unaffordable for the common man.

Daily wage earners said that their income has not increased, but their daily expenses have increased manifold.

A laborer said, “The things that we used to buy easily earlier, now we have to think twice about them before buying. It has become difficult to feed the children.”
