MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is going to launch a comprehensive plan to overhaul the public health sector with an aim to strengthening healthcare delivery at the district level.
The Director General of Public Health, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Dr. Sardar Aftab Hussain, presided over a high-level online meeting with District Health Officers to discuss comprehensive reforms, innovations, and the overall enhancement of public health services across the region.

The meeting saw participation from District Health Officers representing Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Jhelum Valley, Poonch, Bagh, Sudhnuti, Haveli, Mirpur, Bhimber, and Kotli, highlighting a unified approach toward strengthening healthcare delivery at the district level.
During the session, extensive deliberations took place on multiple critical aspects, including upgradation and modernization of healthcare facilities to meet current public health standards.
Thew meeting also discussed ensuring staff attendance, efficiency, and performance across hospitals and basic health units.
Availability and timely distribution of essential medicines and medical supplies also came under discussion in the meeting.
Implementation of a robust digital monitoring system to track healthcare delivery and operational efficiency and strategies to provide high-quality, accessible, and timely medical services to all citizens were also on the agenda.
Dr. Hussain emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and rigorous oversight within the health system.
He instructed all district offices to adopt best practices to guarantee that medical facilities function efficiently and citizens receive timely and effective healthcare services.
The meeting also reinforced a long-term vision to modernize the Public Health Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, integrating technology-driven solutions and innovative management strategies.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to prioritizing public welfare, enhancing healthcare accessibility, and ensuring that the health sector meets the growing needs of the population.
With these initiatives, the Department aims to establish a sustainable, responsive, and citizen-centric healthcare system, reflecting a new era of professionalism, transparency, and service excellence in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
