MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) performed excellently well to be recognized as the number 1 educational institution in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Under the leadership of Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor MUST, the institution continues its upward academic trajectory by demonstrating robust, and discipline-specific excellence in the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings 2026, securing 1st Position across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The institution also attained 24th and 31st position nationally in Engineering, and Physical Sciences respectively and achieved global placement within the 801–1000 band; an emphatic testament to sustained ascendancy in Research Quality, Industrial Engagement, International outlook, Research Environment & Teaching amid an increasingly competitive National and Global Higher Education milieu.

This remarkable achievement exemplifies unflinching commitment of Mirpur University to scholarly preeminence, intellectual rigour and transformative education, further illuminating avant-garde research, erudition and the nurturing of academic talent at the University while cultivating strategic collaborations.

Mirpur University of Science and Technology achieved a significant milestone in the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings 2026 reflecting growing academic strength and expanding research capacity of Mirpur University at both national and international levels.

In Engineering subject category MUST secured 1st position in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 24th position among Pakistani universities and has been placed within the global ranking band of 801–1000.

Similarly in Physical Sciences category, MUST again ranked 1st in AJK, achieved 31st position nationwide while falls within the 801–1000 global band, highlighting consistent disciplinary performance across core science and engineering domains.

The Times Higher Education Subject Rankings evaluate universities on the basis of five key performance indicators including Research Quality, Industry Engagement, International Outlook, Research Environment and Teaching assessed specifically within each subject area.

In the Engineering category MUST demonstrated strong national standing by securing 18th position in Pakistan for International Outlook, reflecting its expanding international collaborations and academic partnerships.

The university achieved 23rd position in Research Quality, 28th position in both Industry Engagement and Research Environment while 31st position in Teaching, indicating balanced progress across research excellence, industrial relevance and academic delivery.

In Physical Sciences category, MUST attained 19th position in Pakistan in International Outlook, 30th in Industry Engagement and Teaching, 31st in Research Quality while 32nd in Research Environment.

The subject-wise achievements reaffirm University’s position as a leading public sector institution. Securing 1st position in AJK in both Engineering and Physical Sciences reflects MUST’s strong focus on quality assurance, outcome-based education and research-driven academic growth.
