ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa fell inside his home and suffered injuries, family sources said.
According to the reports, Bajwa suffered injuries to various parts of his body due to the fall. He had fallen in his house on Tuesday morning at around 4:30 AM.
He has been admitted to the hospital in Rawalpindi, where he is undergoing treatment.
Family sources added that Bajwa has sustained multiple injuries, including a head injury, and is undergoing treatment in the ICU.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa
General (retd) Qamar Bajwa served as the 16th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan from 2016 to 2022 and retired from office on November 29, 2022.
Before he was appointed COAS, he served at the General Headquarters (GHQ) as Inspector General of Training and Evaluation, where he oversaw training and operational readiness across the army.
He also held key positions in the X Corps as a lieutenant colonel, where he served as a General Staff Officer (GSO) and also served as Commandant of the Infantry School in Quetta.
He also served with a United Nations mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo as a brigade commander. He also served as Commandant of the Infantry School in Quetta.
Gen (retd) Bajwa joined the Pakistan Army in 1980 and belonged to the infantry’s Baloch Regiment, where he served for more than 40 years.
During his time as army chief, his term was extended by three years, keeping him in office until November 2022.
His tenure saw security challenges, changing regional dynamics, and major domestic political events, according to the reports.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was appointed as the Chief of Army Staff after Bajwa’s retirement, who is currently serving as Army Chief and the Chief of Defence Forces.
