LAHORE (Kashmir English): A high-level meeting involving officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was held in Lahore on Sunday to discuss Pakistan’s decision not to play its highly anticipated T20 World Cup match against India
According to sources, the talks with the ICC delegation at Gaddafi Stadium were held in a pleasant atmosphere. After discussing the issues discussed in the meeting, ICC representative Imran Khawaja will now inform the ICC about the details of the meeting.
Pakistan openly expressed its reservations and position through arguments in ICC–PCB meeting. The ICC Deputy Chairman stressed reviewing the decision not to play the match with India, saying that Pakistan should play the match with India in the larger interest of cricket.
In the ICC–PCB Meeting, Imran Khawaja also supported the position of Pakistan and Bangladesh on some issues and assured to remove the reservations of the PCB and the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
In light of Imran Khawaja’s report, the ICC will inform the PCB of its response on Pakistani conditions and suggestions in a day or two.
Moreover, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi decided to contact the Prime Minister again after a meeting with the ICC delegation in Lahore today regarding Pakistan’s not playing the match against India in the T20 Cricket World Cup 2026.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will brief Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the issues discussed in the meeting. The Pakistan Cricket Board chief made it clear in the meeting that the decision will be taken by the government.
UAE Request’s
After Sri Lanka, the Emirates Cricket Board has now also requested Pakistan to reconsider its decision not to play the match against India on February 15, which has taken a new turn in this matter.
According to reports, the Emirates Cricket Board has formally contacted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and has taken the position that the decision regarding the match against India should be taken keeping in mind the larger interest of cricket.
