MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In recent days, there has been a significant change in the prices of chicken and eggs, which has created different reactions for both consumers and traders.
The price of broiler meat has been recorded to decrease by Rs 7 per kg, after which the price of broiler meat at the farm gate has been fixed at Rs 526 per kg.
However, broiler meat is being sold at up to Rs 580 per kg in retail markets, to which citizens have given mixed reactions. Some consumers are welcoming the price reduction, while some say that the retail prices are still high.
On the other hand, the price of live broiler at the farm gate has been fixed at Rs 335 per kg, while it is being sold at Rs 349 per kg in the wholesale market.
The price of live broiler in the retail market is Rs 363 per kg, which is much higher than the farm gate price, but has a slight difference compared to the wholesale market.
There has also been a significant decline in the prices of eggs. After a decrease of Rs 23 in the price of a dozen eggs, they are being sold at Rs 300 per dozen.
A carton of eggs is available in the wholesale market for Rs 8,880. Consumers are very happy with this reduction, and an increase in buying and selling in the market is expected.
Experts say that these changes have mainly come about due to increased production and better management of the supply chain. Consumers are being advised to keep an eye on wholesale or farm gate prices compared to retail market prices to get a better deal.
