ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)  has announced that the much-awaited 5G spectrum auction in Pakistan will occur between April and May.

The 5G Auction is a major event towards the digital transformation of Pakistan, with vital ramifications for the economy and other sectors.

Chairman, PTA, Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman made this announcement during a ceremony attended by Malaysian telcos where he acknowledged the present delays in the rollout of 5G services in Pakistan.

Sharing their valuable experiences in terms of implementing the technology in Pakistan, the Malaysian telecom representatives transitioned from 5G to 5.5G, and the PTA chairman said that Pakistan would benefit a lot from their experience.

The state minister of IT and telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja reiterated that Pakistan is moving very fast toward the launch of 5G, with preparations and consultations going on.

The arrival of 5G in Pakistan is expected to further boost economic activity and drive digital transformation, really an exciting prospect. With the auction scheduled to happen soon, Pakistan is joining the global 5G community, expected to make enormous advances in terms of internet speed, latency, and network reliability.
