MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Food Authority Muzaffarabad on Monday foiled the illegal transportation of meat at Kohala point, seizing substandard meat, and initiated action against the relevant food business operator.
As per details, the Food Authority has launched a crackdown across Muzaffarabad against substandard and hazardous food items on the orders of the Supreme Court of Azad Kashmir.
Taking a major action, the officials seized a vehicle, travelling from Rawalpindi, involved in the illegal transportation of meat and registered an FIR against the relevant food business operators, the statement said.
The Food Authority team, during the inspection, foiled the illegal and non-SOP meat delivery from the vehicle, which was a violation of the Food Authority Act 2017 and the Pure Food Regulation 2019.
According to the Food Authority spokesperson, the said delivery was already banned, yet public health was put at serious risk by violating the laws. Taking immediate action on the incident, the vehicle was taken into custody, while an application was filed against the responsible persons in Chhatar Police Station under the Food Authority Act 2017.
District Food Controller Muzaffarabad Abrar Ahmed Mir has said that no compromise will be made on public health.
