MUZAFFARABAD (kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government has issued a notification of 20 public holidays to be observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir for the calendar year 2026.

The public holiday schedule 2026 includes Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5, Pakistan Day on Monday, March 23, Three Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays, Labor Day on May 1, and May 28 on Takbeer Day. The notification also includes the Eid al-Adha holidays and Ashura holidays.

Kashmir Martyrs Day on Monday, July 13, 2026, Pakistan Accession Day on Sunday, Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Ibrahim Khan’s death anniversary on Friday, July 31, 2026.

According to the notification, the Pakistan Independence Day celebration is on Friday, August 14, 2026, and Eid Milad-un-Nabi 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, so these will also be holidays in the state.

According to the official notification, the Independence Day of the State of Jammu and Kashmir will be a holiday on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Independence Day and Reconstruction Day will be observed on Thursday, October 8, and Jammu Martyrs’ Day will be observed on Thursday, November 6. Iqbal Day will be observed on November 9, 2026, and there will be a holiday on November 11.

Martyrdom Day of Captain Hussain Khan Shaheed and Baba-e-Poonch Khan Muhammad Khan will be observed on Wednesday for the Poonch district and Sidhnoti.

Death anniversary of Quaid-e-Millat Rais-ul-Ahrar Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas will be observed on Friday, December 18, 2026, and Quaid-e-Azam Day will be observed on Friday, December 25, 2026.

The day after Christmas will be observed on Saturday, December 26, only for the Christian community. Eid holidays will be subject to the moon, for which a separate notification will be issued if necessary.
