SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The BJP-led Indian government has intensified restrictions across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) under the pretext of “heightened security measures” ahead of the Indian Republic Day celebrations.
According to Kashmir Media Service, personnel from the Indian army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Special Operation Group of police have been deployed in large numbers across all district towns, villages and key areas, including the Srinagar-Jammu highway and along the Line of Control.
Additionally, intensified night patrolling has been observed in Baramulla, Kupwara, Kulgam, Srinagar, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Samba and Kishtwar districts.
Checking and frisking have been tightened along the Srinagar-Jammu highway and various other major roads throughout the territory.
India’s refusal to grant Kashmiri their rights
It is worth mentioning here that Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world observe January 26, the Indian Republic Day, as Black Day, every year, in protest against India’s continued refusal to grant the Kashmiri people their right to plebiscite under the supervision of the United Nations, a demand that has remained unfulfilled for decades.
