Massive rally held in Muzaffarabad on Right to Self-Determination day

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The right to self-determination day is being celebrated in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion, a big public rally was organized in the capital of Muzaffarabad under the auspices of the Jammu and Kashmir Guard.

The participants of the rally marched from Burhan Wani Shaheed Chowk to the UN Observer Office for two miles. Hundreds of people, including women, the elderly, youth, and children, participated in this rally. The participants marched on the main highway of the city to demand the right to self-determination.

The rally was led by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, and leaders of political and religious parties. Other leaders also participated in the rally.

The participants raised slogans in favor of independence from India and raised strong slogans against the Indian military occupation. Slogans of “Kashmir that has been soaked in blood is our Kashmir” and “Indian occupiers, leave our Kashmir” kept resounding during the rally.

Furthermore, strong slogans in favor of Kashmir’s freedom, “We will take away freedom,” were also repeated in the rally. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, said in his address to the rally that the United Nations should implement its resolutions to resolve the Kashmir issue. He added that the January 5 resolution is the best roadmap for resolving the Kashmir issue.

Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, while addressing the rally, said that the Kashmiri people appeal to the United Nations for their freedom and right to self-determination.

He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir want to decide their political future through the implementation of the January 5 resolution, and human rights organizations should play a role in the release of Kashmiri prisoners.

Usman Ali Hashim said that we reject the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. While Shaukat Javed Mir, spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, said that freedom is the destiny of Kashmiris. Kashmiri protesters also vowed to continue the struggle until they achieve freedom from the Indian occupation government.
