LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government took a significant decision on the first day of the new year, abolishing nine government departments.
According to an official notification issued by the Service and General Administration Department, the government has abolished nine departments and merged them into the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department.
The notification reveals that all the merged institutions will have a secretary and a DG.
The institutions that have been merged into the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department include the Enforcement Price and Control, the Food Can Commissioner, Agriculture Economic Marketing, Institute of Agriculture Marketing, Consumer Protection Council, Punjab Facilitation Bazaar Authority, Punjab Halal Development Agency, and Punjab Food Authority.
According to sources, the aforementioned departments were abolished under the savings program, in which the additional officers present will also be replaced.
