MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Supreme Court Bar Association President Raja Aftab Ahmed Advocate has welcomed the government’s approval of the demands of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and the issuing of formal notifications in this regard.
In a statement, he said that the government has approved most of the conditions of the agreement made between the JAAC and the government, which is a “welcome and positive development”.
He said that the committee set up by the Government of Pakistan on the issue of refugee seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly is a serious and commendable step.
“The JAAC should show patience, tolerance, and responsibility and should not affect the process of improvement in the public interest resulting from the agreement through unfounded suspicion and unnecessary objections, so that this process of positive progress can continue,” it added.
He emphasized that Azad Kashmir is the base camp of the Kashmir freedom movement, and any atmosphere of insecurity or instability in the region is unacceptable under any circumstances.
“Millions of Kashmiris are engaged in an ongoing struggle for independence in occupied Kashmir, and no conspiracy aimed at sabotaging this struggle will be allowed to succeed,” he stated.
Raja Aftab further stated that certain social media statements and tweets by some members of the Joint Awami Action Committee containing anti-Pakistan content cannot be ignored. He stressed that the people of Azad Kashmir stand firmly with Pakistan and cannot even imagine acting against its interests.
He said the armed forces of Pakistan are the guardians of the honor, property, and borders of the people of Azad Kashmir, and that any propaganda against the Pakistan Army serves the objectives of hostile elements.
Calling for mutual trust, he said a cooperative and respectful relationship between the government and the Joint Public Action Committee is essential for stability and progress. He reaffirmed that Azad Kashmir is free from chaos and anarchy, adding that if required, the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir would play its full role as a mediator to maintain harmony and public interest.
