KARAK (Kashmir English): In a successful and effective operation in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the police killed 8 terrorists based on intelligence information, while several terrorists managed to escape with injuries.
According to police officials, information was received about the presence of militants in the area, who were suspected of planning destructive activities. Upon receiving the information, the police, CTD, and other law enforcement agencies jointly took action.
Security forces surrounded the suspected location from all sides. According to the police, the terrorists opened fire on seeing the forces, resulting in an intense exchange of fire on both sides.
In the encounter that lasted for several hours, 8 terrorists were killed on the spot, while several terrorists fled to nearby areas after being injured.
During the operation, the police recovered a large quantity of weapons, grenades, bullets, automatic weapons and sensitive material from the scene, which was allegedly to be used for terrorist acts.
Police officials say that the slain terrorists belonged to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and have been involved in various terrorist operations in the past.
A search operation has been intensified to arrest the injured terrorists who fled, while a blockade has also been established in nearby areas.
Security arrangements have been tightened in the area following the operation, and the public has been urged to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies immediately.
According to the police spokesperson, the security personnel demonstrated professionalism and promptly thwarted a major potential threat.
The district administration says that the law and order situation in Karak is completely under control and all necessary measures are being taken to protect the lives and property of the citizens.
