RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English):  The district administration of Rawalpindi has again extended the implementation of Section 144. The restriction on public gatherings has remained effective till December 24.

This announcement was made by the Deputy Commissioner. Rawalpindi’s Deputy Commissioner, Hassan Waqar Cheema. Additionally, it has been asserted that the extension has been introduced in order to preserve law and order and protect the safety of the public in the district.

As per the new guidelines, all types of public assemblies are strictly forbidden. It encompasses rallies, processions, and marches.

The notice also indicates that any gatherings consisting of more than four people will not be allowed at any place during the period of enforcement.

Additionally, organizing and participating in any activities involving loudspeakers is also prohibited. However, if there is prior approval from the concerned authority, it can be allowed.

The administration has warned that legal action will be imposed on the people who are found violating Section 144. Additionally, the public is exhorted to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety.

Section 144 in Balochistan

Earlier, the Balochistan government declared to implement Section 144 in Quetta based on security concerns for the coming year-end. According to the Home Department, the ban imposed in Quetta will remain in force until December 22, 2025.

Display and carrying of weapons, pillion riding of motorcycles, vehicles with tinted windows, and movement of unregistered motorcycles will be banned in the provincial capital during this period.

It also forbids public gatherings, including rallies and processions, with five or more persons, and bars the use of mufflers or masks to cover faces in public.

The transport of acid and explosive materials within Quetta has also been declared illegal. Police, Levies, and Frontier Corps have been instructed to implement the restriction strictly.

Actions will be taken against the violators under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with all other applicable laws.
