KARACHI (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s javelin star and Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem again proved his dominance at the national level by clinching gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the 35th National Games in Karachi.
Representing WAPDA, the national hero produced a best throw of 81.10 metres, which comfortably placed him at the top of the standings and grabbed him another major national title.
None of the other competitors was able to breach the 80-metre mark.
Yasir Sultan claimed silver medal in javelin throw
Fellow WAPDA athlete Yasir Sultan claimed the silver medal, who recorded a throw of 70.77 metres, while Abrar of the Pakistan Army stood third with a best attempt of 67.68 metres.
The victory adds another achievement for Arshad Nadeem, who made global headlines earlier this year by becoming the first Pakistani athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in an individual sport at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The National Games has been one of the biggest multi-sport event which is being held across 24 venues in Karachi and will continue until December 13.
