ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen, has announced that he would not be extending his ownership of the team.
Ali Tareen announced his departure from Multan Sultans through a social media post.
Tareen said in his post on X, “Being part of this team has been one of the greatest honours of my life. I love the fans, I love this team, and I absolutely love being able to represent South Punjab. Something my late uncle Alamgir Tareen was especially proud of.”
He noted that “Every season, I would tell our players and staff what it means to represent this region: a place full of people who work hard, fight for their rights, and push through challenges every single day. I told them that the fans will forgive you if you lose, but they will never forgive you if you stop fighting.”
To all Multan Sultans fans,
Being part of this team has been one of the greatest honours of my life. I love the fans, I love this team, and I absolutely love being able to represent South Punjab. Something my late uncle Alamgir Tareen was especially proud of.

Speaking about his differences with PSL management, Ali added that ” I would rather lose this team while standing on my feet than run it from my knees.”
“So, this is goodbye. Please know that this team has always been much more than its owner. It belongs to you and to South Punjab,” he concluded
Tareen urged the fans that ” whoever takes control of the Sultans next, please keep supporting them with the same passion. You can count on me to be in the stands supporting them, too. ”
Earlier, Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen issued a sarcastic apology to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after receiving a legal notice over his remarks criticising the PSL management.
In a video statement posted on his official Instagram account, Tareen mockingly apologised for speaking out about the PSL’s management and operations, saying he was sorry for having an opinion and for expecting professionalism.
In his video, Tareen dramatically tore the copy of the PCB’s legal notice.
He added that the focus should be on improving the league’s structure and transparency rather than silencing the voices of stakeholders.
