CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): A new feature to find users’ location has been introduced on X.

Through this feature, users can now know who operates from where. Taking advantage of the facility, some Pakistani users also visited the accounts of Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Bilawal Bhutto.

Nowadays, everyone on the social media platform X is trying to find out where someone is tweeting from by visiting different profiles, whether it’s a new friend or a celebrity.

Most users want to know which country or city an account is being operated from.

Actual location of an X account

In fact, X recently introduced a new feature on its platform to display location. Now, users can go to others’ profiles, in addition to their own, to see the actual location of an individual or account.

This feature will reveal more information about users so that people could know who they are talking to on the platform.

Announcing this feature last night, X’s Head of Product, Nikita Bier, said: “In a few hours, we will globally roll out the ‘About This Account’ feature, which will allow you to see which country or region an account is located in.

This information will be available on the profile by tapping on the account creation date on X.”

Nikita Bier further added that this is the first important step towards ensuring the transparency and truthfulness of this social platform. “We will provide even more ways for users in the future to verify the authenticity of the content they see on X.”

He further stated that for countries where freedom of expression is restricted, privacy tools have been included so that users can only display their region and not detailed location.

Regarding the need for this feature, Nikita Bier said that to enable users to make better decisions, it is essential for them to know whether the account they are interacting with is real or a bot or a hate-spreading account.
