DHAKA (Kashmir English): A powerful 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Bangladesh here on Friday, killing three people and injuring several others.
According to the police and health department, the 5.7-magnitude earthquake spread panic in various areas, and people came out of their homes and offices reciting the Kalima Tayyaba.
According to the US Geological Survey, the 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Narsingdi at 10:38 am local time, about 33 km from the capital Dhaka.
The tremors were also felt in nearby cities, including Dhaka, with residents reportedly coming out of buildings.
According to authorities, rescue operations are underway, and the injured have been shifted to hospitals.
There were no immediate reports of damage to any major structures after the earthquake, but the local administration has sent teams to assess the affected areas.
