MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The United Panel has won a sizable majority in the District Bar Association elections that were held today in the Mirpur district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Gul Bahar Chaudhry was chosen as the Vice President, and advocate Mahmood Hussain Chaudhry was elected as the President. The Professional and Progressive Panel won two seats, including the Secretary-General position, and six candidates from the United Panel won overall.

Generally, there were 683 lawyers who voted during the 9:00am to 4:30pm polling period. Supporters of both panels were quite enthusiastic, and the district courts had a lively environment to ensure orderly elections.

Following the announcement of the results, supporters of the winning candidates celebrated with great enthusiasm, including traditional drum beats and jubilant gatherings. A fair and transparent process was ensured by the elections’ seamless and interruption-free conduct.

The entire electoral process was overseen by Advocate Mirza Qamar Zaman, the chairman of the Election Board, who made sure that voting was orderly and peaceful.

Official results of the Mirpur Bar Association elections:

Mahmood Hussain Chaudhry of the United Panel got 406 votes and was chosen as the President. Gul Bahar Chaudhry of the United Panel was chosen as the Vice President with 445 votes. Mian Adnan Syed of the United Panel became the Joint Secretary with 435 votes, whereas Syed Abu Al-Hasan of the United Panel was chosen as the Finance Secretary with 308 votes.

Hafiz Sajjad-ul-Haq of the United Panel was chosen as the Information Secretary with 355 votes. Raja Qamar Yaseen of the United Panel was chosen as the Library Secretary with a count of 367 votes.

Muhammad Fayaz of the Professional & Progressive Panel was elected as the Secretary-General with 426 votes, and
Asma Majid of the Professional & Progressive Panel was chosen as the Vice President of the women’s reserved seat after scoring 431 votes.

The excellent outcome of the Mirpur District Bar elections demonstrates the legal community’s commitment to democracy and prepares the newly elected officials to assume their duties.
