SURAT, India (Kashmir English): Indian cricketer Akash Kumar Choudhary on Sunday became the first player to hit eight sixes in a row in first-class cricket while also recording the fastest half-century in the format, off only 11 deliveries.
The record-breaking display of skills was seen on November 9, 2025 during a Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh in Surat.
Kumar hit eight sixes in a row on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match between Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in Surat, a city in the Indian state of Gujarat.

The 25-year-old Akash came in to bat at number eight when the Meghalaya team had lost 6 wickets for 576 runs.
After taking two singles on the initial few balls, Kumar hit six consecutive sixes off left-arm spinner Lamar Dabi in one over.
This feat had previously been achieved in first-class cricket by only two players: Sir Garfield Sobers (1968) and Ravi Shastri (1985).
In the next over, Akash hit two more sixes off the first two balls of off-spinner T.N.R. Mohit, thus becoming the first player in the world to hit eight consecutive sixes in first-class cricket.
The Meghalaya team declared their innings at 629 runs with Akash Choudhary returning to the pavilion unbeaten with 50 runs off 14 balls.
