Noman Ali nominated for ICC Player of the Month for October 2025

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Left-arm Pakistani spinner Noman Ali has continued his fine form in Test cricket with yet another impressive outing in the two-match series against South Africa.

Ranked No.3 on the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Test Bowling rankings, Noman picked up 14 wickets at an average of 23.07 to emerge as the leading wicket-taker in the series.

He took his third 10-wicket haul in the opening Test in Lahore, with 6/112 in the first innings and 4/79 in the second, to play a match-winning hand in Pakistan’s 93-run victory.

In the Test in Rawalpindi, Noman added four wickets to his kitty and also chipped in with some useful runs with the bat, scoring 17.

Senuran Muthusamy (South Africa)

The standout performer for South Africa in the series was Senuran Muthusamy. The 31-year-old all-rounder took career-best figures of 11/174 at Lahore, including six wickets in the first innings and five in the second; despite those heroics, South Africa lost.

In Rawalpindi, he stroked an unbeaten 89 as his team gained a precious first-innings lead that helped them win the game. For the series, Muthusamy scored 106 runs at 53 and took 11 wickets at 18.36, and he picked up the Player of the Series award.

Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan had a fine all-format month, starring in limited-overs series against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

In five T20Is, Rashid picked up nine wickets at an economy rate of 4.82, including 4/18 against Bangladesh and 3/9 against Zimbabwe.

His impact was greater in the ODI series against Bangladesh, though, where he picked up 11 wickets at an economy of just 2.73, including 5/17 in the second match that sealed a 3-0 series victory for Afghanistan.
Rashid also chipped in with some valuable lower-order runs to round off a commanding month with bat and ball.
