ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan is temporarily halted due to security concerns at the border customs stations.

In a press release issued on Friday, the FBR stated that before the suspension of bilateral trade, customs authorities cleared 363 import vehicles at Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Kharlachi, and Angoor Adda border crossings.

The tax-collecting body added that customs staff are available at the border stations to resume the clearance process as soon as borders open and the situation returns to normalcy.

Furthermore, it added that 23 import vehicles were pending clearance at the Torkham border crossing as the importers have not yet submitted goods declarations. “These vehicles are loaded with non-perishable items like cloth, paint, groundnuts, and pulses.”

It was expected that the same would be cleared by the customs as soon as goods declarations are filed by the concerned importers or customs clearing agents.

Moreover, 255 vehicles carrying export goods are parked inside the Torkham terminal due to the border closure. About 200 vehicles are stranded on Jamrud-Landi Kotal Road.

“No imported vehicles are awaiting clearance at Ghulam Khan, Kharlachi, and Angor Adda Border Stations,” the FBR said.

Furthermore, the press release added that the customs clearance operations have been suspended at Chaman Border Customs Station since October 15, 2025.

“5 import and 23 export vehicles are awaiting processing at Chaman, whose owners have refused to take back their consignments,” it said. These owners are waiting for the border to reopen and trade to resume.

Currently, about 495 vehicles of transit consignments are waiting to cross the border at Torkham and Chaman. The majority of these, 412 vehicles, are stranded at Chaman, with the remaining 83 at Torkham, the FBR said.
