ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Amidst growing political unrest in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned an emergency meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Azad Kashmir Parliamentary Party and central leadership at the President’s House in Islamabad tonight.
According to the sources, the meeting, scheduled for 10:30 PM, will focus on the no-confidence motion, the formation of a new government in Azad Kashmir, and the party’s future political strategy.
The current political situation in the state, the recent protest movement of the Joint Awami Action Committee, the PPP’s alliance with the AJK government, and organizational matters will be discussed in detail.
As per details, the meeting will also deliberate on the continuation or possible withdrawal from the coalition government.
Sources said if the President gives the go-ahead for political change, the announcement of a new Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir could also be made during the meeting.
The session will be attended by the PPP Azad Kashmir Parliamentary team led by President AJK Chapter Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, while Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and other senior PPP leaders are also expected to participate.
