ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday welcomed the success of negotiations between the federal government committee and the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), calling it a positive development that has thwarted the hostile designs of the eternal enemy, India.

The development came during an important meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Azad Kashmir Parliamentary Party and Core Committee, which was held at Zardari House, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of the Party President of AJK chapter, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin.

According to the statement issued after the meeting, the party leaders expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of law enforcement personnel and civilians during recent unrest in AJK and prayed for the elevation of their ranks.

The participants also offered prayers for those who lost their lives in an earthquake on October 8, 2005, which claimed over 87000 lives.

The meeting also unanimously passed a resolution strongly condemning the ongoing grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the killing of Kashmiri youth under the guise of so-called operations.

The meeting declared that the attempt to convert the life imprisonment of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik into a death sentence is tantamount to judicial murder, which the PPP vehemently condemns.

The resolution also denounced the recent threats issued by the Indian Army Chief and government ministers, terming them a threat not only to regional but also to global peace.

The meeting declared that if India dares to attack, Azad Kashmir would be turned into a graveyard for the Indian army.

“Every man and woman of Azad Kashmir will stand shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Armed Forces like a wall of steel,” the participants emphasised.

Moreover, the PPP leadership paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their remarkable achievements against Indian conspiracies and extremist insurgencies, affirming that “the blood of martyrs gives life to the nation.”

The meeting expressed full confidence in the leadership of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, In-charge of Kashmir Affairs Faryal Talpur, and PPP Azad Kashmir President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin.

It was agreed that the Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kashmir will not become part of the government for now, though the final decision will rest with the central leadership.
