ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The month of October is going to be something special regarding the moon because this month’s full moon will be declared a supermoon due to its closest approach to the Earth.

When the moon is closest to the Earth, it appears larger and brighter than usual and is called a supermoon.

The first supermoon of 2025 will be seen across the world, including Pakistan, on October 7.

This supermoon will appear 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual.

After this, it will be possible to see a supermoon on November 5 and then on December 5, while the full moon in early January 2026 will also be a supermoon, but it cannot be considered part of 2025.

There are 3 or 4 supermoons every year.

The moon that will rise in the sky on October 7 will be 224,599 miles from the Earth.

This will be the first supermoon after 11 months; the last time such a moon was seen was in November 2024.

The brightest moon of the year will be visible in November when it will be 221,817 miles from Earth.

A supermoon is also special because when it is close to the horizon, it appears larger than its actual size.

Scientists believe that the distance of objects of different sizes, such as trees and buildings, from the moon deceives the eye and makes the moon appear larger than usual.

Earlier, on September 7, a lunar eclipse was seen around the world, including Pakistan.
