MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a move to influence traders and shopkeepers to join the protest call, the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has started to threaten the local traders.

According to the local shopkeepers, the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has started to threaten the traders by sending messages on WhatsApp groups.

According to the traders, the threats are urging them to join the protest call; otherwise, they would have to face the consequences, like losing their business.

The traders say that the Joint Awami Action Committee’s call for a strike is flopping, so the committee is now trying to strengthen its position by uniting the traders through threatening them.

Locals say that the decision to close or open shops is not based on personal business interests but is also linked to public convenience and employment, so a comprehensive solution is needed to deal with any threats or pressure.

Locals say that the parties should come to the negotiating table to resolve the disputes peacefully, and legal action should be taken against any provocative messages by immediately collecting evidence.

Earlier, the JAAC announced a protest on 29 September amid the failed negotiations between the Azad Kashmir government and the committee.
