NEELUM (Kashmir English): A man was caught impersonating an Army Major in Pakistan Army and planning to marry a married woman for the second time in Neelum Valley.

The suspect, named Farkat Butt from Boor Bala, Neelum Valley, falsely claimed to be a resident of Gujar Khan and showed the victim’s family false dreams of building a new house and financial assistance to gain their trust.

He convinced the woman to marry him by divorcing her first husband, and established relations with her parents without revealing any of his parents or guardians.

On the day of marriage, when the girl’s family asked to call his parents, he made the excuse that his mother had suffered a heart attack and was in the hospital.

Suspicion arose when the accused made excuses for not providing his mother’s identity card and not allowing the woman’s family to contact his parents.

The accused was restrained by locals and handed over to the police, who later confirmed his real identity and previous marriage.

It was discovered that Butt is already married and the father of two children, residing in the same village of Boor Bala.

During the investigation, Farkat Butt’s parents, wife, and children confirmed the facts and consented to the registration of an FIR against him.
