One-minute silence to be observed on Feb 5 to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam on Tuesday announced to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on Wednesday with reaffirmed support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

In a press conference along with Hurriyat leaders, Muqam said that a series of activities will be held including a one-minute silence at 10:00 am tomorrow to honor Kashmir’s martyrs.

Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, was also present at the press conference.

Muqam called on the United Nations (UN) and global human rights organizations to take notice of India’s oppression, stating that the issues have put regional and global peace at risk. He urged Pakistani youth to use social media effectively to expose India’s human rights abuses.

Hurriyat leader Ghulam Muhammad Safi also reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance, condemning India’s unilateral revocation of Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019. He accused India of demographic engineering and a Hindutva-driven agenda aimed at altering the region’s Muslim-majority character.

Activities on Kashmir Solidarity Day

Furthermore, the federal minister said that a solidarity rally will be held at Constitution Avenue in the federal capital, which will be attended by federal ministers, parliamentarians, and Kashmiri leaders.

Moreover, the Foreign Office has issued directives to organise seminars, rallies, and exhibitions at Pakistani embassies and consulates worldwide exposing India’s human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The Ministry of Kashmir Affairs will also hold documentaries, poetry recitals, and theatrical performances in collaboration with PNCA and Lok Virsa. The information ministry has launched a media campaign, with PTV, Radio Pakistan, and private news channels airing special programs on Kashmir.

In addition to that, metro stations, major roads, and airports have been ornamented with banners showcasing solidarity with Kashmiris and support for the Kashmiri cause.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), human chains will be made on all seven bridges connecting Azad Kashmir with Pakistan. Massive rallies and demonstrations will take place, including at the Line of Control (LoC).
