PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The investigators have recovered the black box of the MI-17 helicopter of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government from the crash site in Mohmand.

The MI-17 helicopter crashed on August 15, 2025, while carrying relief supplies to flood victims in the Salarzai locality of Bajaur, killing all five crew members in the martyrdom.

Investigation teams that came from Karachi recovered the black box with assistance from the local police, which was discovered approximately 100 meters from the site of the crash, officials said. The police subsequently delivered it to the concerned authorities for further analysis.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued the latest figures of loss of life and property due to recent heavy rainfall and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

It is important to note here that a total of 313 people were killed and 156 were injured in different incidents, the PDMA reported. Among the dead are 263 males, 29 females, and 21 children, while the injured consist of 123 males, 23 females, and 10 children.

The report identifies that 159 homes were affected, of which 97 were partially damaged and 62 destroyed.
