MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has extended the deadline for the voluntary return of illegal foreigners in Azad Kashmir till August 30, 2025.

After this date, law enforcement agencies will initiate arrangements for the return of foreign nationals still residing illegally in the region, the AJK Home Department said in a press release.

“Those who fail to depart voluntarily will be kept in special camps and later sent back to their home countries,” it added.

The Home Department said that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who shelter, house, or employ illegal foreigners, as well as those who engage in business transactions with them.

The press release added that the One Document Policy is currently in force at border transit points, aiming to regulate the stay of foreign nationals in Azad Kashmir.

The government expects that these measures will increase employment opportunities for legally residing and local people, while also providing social security.

The government announced the measures in alignment with Pakistan’s broader efforts to repatriate illegal foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens. This move is part of a larger initiative to ensure that only individuals with valid documentation are allowed to reside in the country.
