MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a tragic incident, six family members lost the battle for life after being hit by the recent landslide in Pathikka tehsil of Muzaffarabad.
The landslide caused by heavy rains affected nearly the whole district, causing the tragic death of this family.
The rescue operation was quickly launched under the special order of the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudary Anwarul Haq.
Rescue 1122 teams, along with the district administration, police, and volunteers from the Jammu and Kashmir United Movement, worked tirelessly to recover the bodies of all the deceased from the rubble.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the grieving family and urged the public to remain cautious in light of ongoing weather hazards, advising people to take shelter in safe locations.
Earlier, the Met Office issued an advisory regarding heavy rainfall in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Federal Capital, Islamabad.
The spell of heavy rain is expected to continue till August 17, 2025.
