MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The 10th death anniversary of Mujahid-e-Awwal Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan, former President and Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, was observed with great devotion and respect across Azad Kashmir today.
A ceremony was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell in Muzaffarabad to pay tribute to his services for the Kashmir freedom movement and Azad Kashmir’s development.
Minister for Small Industries, Trade, and Travel, Professor Taqdees Gilani, attended the ceremony as the special guest.
Addressing a ceremony, he described Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan as a distinguished Kashmiri leader with international standards, known for his all-around personality and high moral values. Gilani highlighted Khan’s role in highlighting the Kashmir issue at high international forums and his contributions to the Kashmir freedom movement.
The minister shed light on Khan’s personality, saying he laid the foundation of political, social, literary, and moral values in Azad Kashmir and implemented a long-term policy to bring about an educational revolution.
He urged the youth to highlight the Kashmir issue and Mujahid I’s mission on social media, emphasizing the importance of keeping the Kashmir cause alive.
On the occasion, Directors of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell, Dr. Raja Muhammad Sajjad Khan and Raja Muhammad Aslam Khan, paid tribute to Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan’s services for the Kashmir freedom movement, accession to Pakistan, and Azad Kashmir’s development.
Speakers at the ceremony described Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan as a visionary and principled leader whose wisdom and foresight transcended the challenges of his time. They praised his role in keeping the Kashmir cause alive and establishing the political and governmental system of Azad Kashmir.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of students from various universities in Azad Kashmir and Pakistan, as well as media coordinator Sardar Ali Shan, assistant directors, and other officers and officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell. A Fateha was offered for the eternal peace of Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan.
