BAGH (Kashmir English): The District Magistrate of Bagh, Raja Muhammad Sadaqat Khan, has imposed Section 144 in the district, prohibiting individuals from engaging in certain activities near rivers during the monsoon season.
The order, effective for two months from Saturday, June 28, aims to prevent potential risks and losses due to predicted above-normal rainfall and possible severe flooding.
The order stated that during the rains, some people try to catch the wood flowing in the rivers, while some people also go near the rivers for photography.
“There is a fear of loss of lives of the people living in the vicinity of the rivers and areas (downstream),” it added.
Considering this, the district administration has imposed restrictions on collecting firewood from rivers and taking photographs near rivers under Section 144.
The order empowered Station House Officers (SHOs) to register cases under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against individuals violating the restrictions. Those found disobeying the order may face legal action, it added.
