MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, has announced financial assistance to the families of martyrs and injured police personnel in the recent operation against terrorists in Rawalakot.

Addressing a press conference in Muzaffarabad, IG Police AJK Rana Abdul Jabbar confirmed that the families of martyrs will receive Rs 10 million each, while seriously injured personnel will get Rs 2 million and Rs 1 million for slightly injured personnel.

Responding to a question, the IGP Azad Kashmir said that 7 people who facilitated these terrorists have also been arrested.

Earlier last night, the Azad Kashmir Police conducted a major operation against terrorists in the forests of Rawalkot, resulting in the killing of four terrorists. During the operation, two police personnel were martyred and five others were injured.

Addressing the presser today, AJK police chief said that the operation was launched after the police, on May 28, received information about the presence of a wanted terrorist named Zarnoosh in a forest in Rawalakot.

The terrorists were linked to Fitna-ul-Kharij, a network led by a terrorist, Dr Rauf, who is based in Afghanistan and indoctrinates youth towards extremism.

He said that these terrorists were planning to carry out attacks against defense installations, public offices, and government officials in Azad Kashmir. Despite their presence in Azad Kashmir for the past three months, these terrorists could not take any action, he added.

The police chief added that there were reports of two suicide bombers planning to carry out attacks in the next 2 to 4 days, but timely action by the police foiled their plans.
