ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to play a more active role in supporting the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

He expressed these remarks while giving an exclusive interview to Al Arabiya TV journalist Malek El Baccari at the President’s Kashmir House in Islamabad today.

The President emphasized the OIC’s historical support for the Kashmiri people and called for increased pressure on India to stop atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

He stressed that the Kashmir issue should be resolved according to the will and wishes of the Kashmiri people. He advocated for economic sanctions against India to compel it to respect the rights of the Kashmiri people.

“Last month, India carried out a false flag operation in Pahalgam inside occupied Kashmir and blamed it on Pakistan and attacked Pakistan,” he said, adding that in response, the Pakistani army and the people of Pakistan together gave a befitting reply to India and destroyed India’s evil intentions.

President Chaudhry told the journalist that Pakistan is not in favor of war, but if India waged war, our Pakistani army would crush India to repel its arrogance.

The President stressed that the Kashmir issue is the main reason for tensions between Pakistan and India, and that peace cannot be established in South Asia until the issue is resolved.

He appreciated the role of countries like the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in facilitating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India during recent tensions.

In response to a question, Azad Kashmir President said that India has abolished the special status of occupied Kashmir by abrogating Article 370 and 35-A.

“There are 900,000 Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. In terms of numbers, there is one Indian soldier deployed for every 10 Kashmiris, and India wants occupied Kashmir to be run from Delhi,” he stated.
