ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday announced the safe arrival of 22 Iranian crew members of a vessel, Lenore/Davina, in Karachi, which was seized by the United States during a naval blockade of the Iranian ports that started on April 13.
In a post on X, the foreign minister said Pakistan has now facilitated the repatriation of more than 70 Iranian brethren in the past two months, reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian cooperation and regional goodwill.
“Arrangements are now being finalised in close collaboration with the Iranian Missions in Pakistan to facilitate their earliest and safe return to their homeland,” Dar said, adding that Islamabad is in close coordination with US and Iranian authorities.
He said that this marks the fourth group of Iranian crew members in the last two months whose repatriation has been facilitated by Pakistan.

“I am grateful to the Iranian leadership for the trust they have reposed in Pakistan,” he said.
Dar also commended the efforts of the team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all the Pakistani institutions for their “professionalism and commitment to ensure the smooth and safe repatriation of our Iranian brothers to their homeland”.
Earlier, on June 17, the minister said that Islamabad has facilitated the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals, which included 22 Iranian crew members, who have reached Pakistan today, and eight Iranian fishermen, who were rescued at sea by the British vessel MMA Valour after their boat ran aground.
“We remain in close coordination with the Iranian, US, and UK authorities to ensure the safe transit and early return of our Iranian brethren to their homeland,” Dar wrote in a post on X.
“Pakistan remains committed to humanitarian cooperation and to extending every possible assistance to our Iranian brothers.”
