ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has selected 1,700 fresh engineering graduates from across the country for a six-month Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program. The graduates will be given a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000 during the training.
The PEC conducted the digital balloting for the second batch of its industry training program among the 3,982 shortlisted candidates.
PEC officials said that a total of 5,300 candidates submitted online applications for the program, out of which 3,982 candidates were shortlisted after screening. A completely transparent digital draw was used for the final selection, through which 1,700 engineers were selected.
Out of the total placements, 300 seats were exclusively allocated for engineering graduates from Balochistan, all of which have been filled by candidates from the province.
While the remaining 1,400 candidates have been selected from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
PEC Chairman’s address
Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir stated that the dedicated allocation for Balochistan graduates has been introduced to expand opportunities for the province’s youth, address longstanding socio-economic disparities, and promote their effective mainstreaming into the national engineering workforce.
He further said that for this purpose, partnerships have been established with public and private institutions across the country to ensure industrial development by promoting skilled manpower in the country.
PEC officials highlighted that the program is being implemented through dedicated online portals for both employers and engineers, with partnerships established with leading public and private sector organizations nationwide to provide structured training opportunities.
He said PEC remains committed to ensuring merit, transparency, and equal opportunity across all regions, adding that the inclusion of a full quota for Balochistan reflects the Council’s resolve to create a more balanced and inclusive professional landscape.
He further emphasized that investing in fresh graduates will strengthen Pakistan’s engineering capacity and support sustainable national development.
The GET program is a fully PEC-funded, six-month “house job” style initiative, including five months of field exposure and one month of skill development, with a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 and a jointly issued certificate with QR code verification upon successful completion.
