MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The installation of streetlights is underway in Muzaffarabad as part of the new administration’s 100-day development plan, marking a step toward improving public facilities and nighttime safety in the city.
Previously, several areas of Muzaffarabad were plunged into darkness after sunset, creating difficulties for motorists, pedestrians and residents. The ongoing installation work is expected to improve visibility on roads and make nighttime travel more convenient.
Alongside the improved street lighting, the city’s Safe City camera system is also set to become fully operational. Better illumination is expected to support camera surveillance and assist authorities in monitoring public spaces and maintaining security.
The initiative is part of the administration’s broader efforts to address civic issues and improve urban infrastructure within its first 100 days.
Once completed, the streetlight project is expected to provide residents with safer and more accessible roads after dark, while the activation of the Safe City system could further strengthen security monitoring across Muzaffarabad.
