ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Zilhaj moon has not been sighted, Eid-ul-Adha 2025 will be celebrated on June 7 all across Pakistan.
The Zilhajj moon was not seen on Tuesday evening, and Eid ul Adha will now be observed on Saturday, June 7, as confirmed by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad.
As per the official statement, the first day of Zilhaj 1446 Hijri will fall on Thursday, May 29 2025. The Zilhaj moon-sighting meeting was held in Islamabad, while zonal committee sessions also took place in their respective cities to collect evidence of the moon-sighting.
Religious scholar Mufti Ramzan Sialvi stated that the Zilhaj moon was not visible in Lahore. He added that the final decision regarding the moon sighting was to be announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Similarly, officials from the Karachi zonal committee reported that no Zilhaj moon-sighting testimonies were received from anywhere in Sindh province.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) explained that although the new moon was born at 8:02 am on Tuesday, it was only about 12 hours old by the evening.
Therefore, the chances of it being sighted were minimal. Eid ul Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of Zilhaj and coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
According to a forecast by Suparco, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, people across the country are expected to celebrate Eid on 7 June.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most important Islamic holidays. Muslims around the world celebrate it in remembrance of the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah.
On this day, Muslims offer special prayers and sacrifice animals such as goats, cows, or camels. The meat is then distributed among family, friends, and the poor.
The citizens have been to make proper arrangements for animal sacrifices and to follow health and safety guidelines during the Eid holidays.
