CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): YouTube has also intensified its policy on inauthentic content, which has rolled out a massive crackdown on channels using AI-powered fictional stories.
The effects of this action are already visible, and many channels featuring low-effort, mass-produced stories created by AI are already being removed and de-monitized.
Early indications are that the policy is aimed squarely at non-original content with little or no human involvement or additional value. Those channels that are automatically posting news on a large scale are the ones that are getting caught in the crosshairs. However, those channels with additional educational or creative elements appear least affected.
Many think that this was a mere inevitability for many content creators. The past few years have seen the rise of automation with the help of artificial intelligence that overwhelmed the website with fictional pieces of work that did not require much of an effort to create and, although lucrative in the short run, did not come with a long-run standard of quality.
The shock for the creators’ community was not in this decision but in the fact that YouTube took so long to arrive at a policy that was so necessary in this regard. The impact of this update is clear in that relying on automation is just not a feasible approach anymore.
