MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Indian government’s panic amid the recent tension with Pakistan is clear, as it has once again taken a drastic step by banning another Pakistani YouTube channel, Kashmir Siasat, for exposing jingoism and war hysteria of the Modi government and its “legacy media”.
This latest action shows the strict regulatory measures the Indian government has been imposing on Pakistan-based YouTube and social media accounts to shape its own ‘fake and false’ narrative for its citizens.
Kashmir Siasat, a YouTube channel owned by an Azad Kashmir-based digital media outlet, Kashmir Digital, shares fact-based news and analysis on local and cross-border happenings, particularly those of India.
The YouTube message stated, “We have received an order from the government related to national security or public order regarding your content.”
The video-sharing site mentioned that “all videos of the said channel have been blocked from view on the YouTube country site(s), India.”
Earlier, India banned a number of YouTube channels and X accounts belonging to several Pakistani media outlets, journalists, social commentators, and podcasters. The Modi government also felt threatened by Pakistani actors, musicians, and cricketers, banning their Instagram accounts.
The hate hasn’t stopped here as the YouTube channels of famous Pakistani entertainment channels, such as Geo TV, ARY Digital, and HUM TV, were also restricted for access in India.
