CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): YouTube is introducing several features that will allow parents to determine that children or teenagers watch video content according to their age.

The first feature includes the screen limits that parents can use in the accounts of younger users.

Under this feature, parents will have the option to set the time for their children to scroll through shorts. Parents can set a time limit of up to 60 minutes for watching shorts.

Soon, parents will also have the option to permanently set this limit to zero according to their preference.

Similarly, parents will be able to use bedtime or break reminders features.

These features aim to help younger users improve their health or sleep by keeping them away from shorts.

According to the company, this is the first such feature in the industry in which parents are given a strong option regarding the viewing of content related to children’s short videos.

A new feature is easy account switching. According to the company, since most households share mobile devices or tablets, the process of switching accounts is being made easier each time.

The company said that in the next few weeks, a new sign-up feature will be available to parents so that they can easily create accounts for their children, while switching between these accounts with a few clicks in the mobile app.

YouTube said that this tool will also ensure that content settings and recommendations are set according to the age of each member of the household.

Along with this, YouTube is also introducing new rules for quality content and a guide that will help creators create content that is interesting for young people, appropriate for their age and of high quality.
