BHIMBER (Kashmir English): A tragic incident occurred in Barsali, a suburban area of Bhimber district, Azad Kashmir, where a young man was murdered just for feeding goats branches of a tree that had fallen due to a storm.
A so-called panchayat was convened over a minor incident, during which the young man was tortured and killed. Police have arrested three suspects.
According to a press release issued by Bhimber Police, Muhammad Sikandar son of Muhammad Azam, Jatt by caste, resident of Dhok Barsali, Tehsil and District Bhimber, reported that a few days ago, his real brother, Muhammad Shaukat, cut branches from a tree that had fallen due to a storm on his land in Dhok Barsali and fed them to goats.
Ghulam Nabi and others strongly objected to this, and in this regard, they held a panchayat at their dera in Garha Kheran.
Man killed on the spot
As soon as the complainant and his brother Muhammad Shaukat arrived at their dera at 08:45 PM, the suspects Ghulam Nabi, Manzoor Hussain sons of Fazal Hussain, Ali son of Ghulam Hussain, along with 2/3 unknown residents of Garha Kheran, attacked brother Muhammad Shaukat with sticks and iron rods, and tortured him to death on the spot.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police District Bhimber Raja Muhammad Akmal Khan, along with DSP City Bhimber, reached District Headquarters Hospital Bhimber, where they met with the victim’s heirs and heard the circumstances of the incident.
DSP City and SHO City were immediately ordered to arrest all the suspects.
SHO City Police Station Bhimber, Arshad Mahmood immediately registered a case and, following due process, traced and arrested three nominated suspects who had fled the scene after the incident, within six hours.
Police stated that the chief suspects nominated in this case have been arrested and are currently under investigation.
If any other suspect or facilitator is confirmed during the investigation, the police will immediately arrest them and bring them to justice.
