CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): X, formerly known as Twitter, plans to switch to an entirely AI-based algorithm for the main feed by November 2025.
The announcement is directly from Elon Musk and Nikita Bier, the Head of Product at X. The transition aims to provide users with a more relevant and tailored feed, reduced exposure to mainstream algorithmic content, and politically centered posts.
Grok Integration
Through Bier’s post, users will be in a position to dynamically manage their feeds via Grok, X’s personal AI assistant. With this, users can customize their timeline according to their interests, as well as ensure that content remains personalized to their individual tastes.
Musk and Bier assured that X will release its algorithm as open source every two weeks. This measure for transparency enables users to know how content is curated and make suggestions for changes. By late 2025, users will have the capability to ask Grok to change their feed in real-time.
Bier reiterated in her post, “The X timeline goal is to escape the political crusades and mainstream algo and find your niche.” She explained that accounts currently showing irrelevant content, e.g., random viral clips, are not yet entirely updated, but adjustments are being made for a more relevant feed.
The blog posts further state that Grok will come with a “Read Aloud” feature, through which users can hear AI-produced answers in a human voice. This is aimed at enhancing accessibility and user engagement.
