MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A group of deserving women staged a protest outside the Central Press House in Muzaffarabad, over unfair Ramadan food package distribution by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
According to the protesting women, their ID cards were also taken by the concerned team and they have been waiting for the last three days to receive the food packages, however, no food package has been given to them yet.
They urged authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner, to take notice of the situation and to ensure that the food packages are distributed on an equal and fair basis so that everyone can get a benefit in the holy month of Ramadan.
The women have alleged that the local deserving women, widows, and the poor were ignored in preference of some other individuals who got food packages in their names.
Moreover, they reported being humiliated and denied meetings with the Deputy Commissioner. The women threatened the authorities to continue their protest until their rights were acknowledged and addressed.
Ramadan is a month of charity and helping those who are in need, such protests highlight the ongoing war of equally distributing the resources and the importance of holding the concerned authorities accountable for their actions.
